Engineering Psychology

Engineering Psychology

Engineering psychology, a powerful combination

Engineering psychology is the science of human-machine interaction based on psychological knowledge. Especially in the age of digitization and the Internet of Things (IoT), engineering psychology is a fundamental link between man and machine. We therefore examine and optimize the respective processes, requirements and/or adjustments based on psychological and engineering principles.
An important challenge in digitization is to support people in adapting to technical progress. Our task in engineering psychology is also to take the employees by the hand in such a way that they are ready and open to change and contribute to a positive development for the company.

Analyzing and understanding behavior and processes in the digital world

  • Usability and product design

We analyze and work out the usability/user-friendliness of your (future) product. We check designs and benefits as well as technical practicability from the user's point of view

  • Customer Experience

We analyze your customer journey and create a positive customer experience to build positive emotional retention.

  • Knowledge management and MIS

We advise you on setting up and implementing an in-house wiki and management information system (MIS) for analysis, problem solving and strategic decisions

  • Software/system adjustments

We optimize existing software systems from the user's point of view. We also check the system reliability of human errors. This allows us to increase the performance for performing a specific task in a specific time.

  • Work processes and information flows

We analyze (software-supported) work processes in order to streamline them and eliminate interface problems. We evaluate information processing and improve communication.

  • Data Management and Data Mining

With the help of pattern recognition in (your) data records, IT systems independently find solutions that you may not have even thought of. We collect new data for you and link it to your existing databases in order to be able to derive patterns and models from them.

  • Generatives Design

We digitize the existing knowledge and experience of individual employees in the company. This increases transparency, comparability and substitutability. In addition, analog (design) processes are imitated digitally, which enables a variety of results.

How apps are fueling Gen Z's smartphone addiction

Smartphone addiction is particularly strong in Generation Z. No wonder, after all, with the so-called addictive design, the app developers use a whole range of instruments that manipulate our neurochemistry in a targeted manner. In their guest article for HORIZONT Online, the graduate industrial engineer Hartwin Maas and the psychologist Rüdiger Maas provide an overview of the most important addictive factors.

Optimal environment for your innovative success

"Innovation 2020" at the Technologie Centrum Westbayern (TCW) Rüdiger Maas (Maasberatung, Augsburg), an advocate of the relatively new discipline of engineering psychology, spoke about how to create an optimal environment for innovative success in the field of development in the special forum "Innovation 2020" at the Technologie Centrum West Bavaria (TCW). "Above all, user-friendliness is a key, often underestimated success factor for new products," says Maas.
